Born the daughter of Joseph T Haden III (1797–1859) and Rebecca Durham (1794–1858) and it should be noted Hayden was spelled different ways at that time. On 18 Dec 1850 in Macon, Alabama she married Dr. Benjamin Franklin Williams (1829 – 1893) and together they had 6 children, Sherman O. Williams (1851–1941), Joseph Williams (1854–1876) America Williams (1856–1870) Sarah Williams (1859–), Benjamin F Williams (1863–1955), Ella T. Williams (1868–) and Shulah Williams (1873-). In the Civil War he served as a medic in the Confederate Cavalry in 1st Regiment of Alabama. In 1863 according to church records Dr. Williams and wife Teresa C. Williams joined Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, in South Montgomery Co., Alabama the church of Benjamin's family by "Transfer by Letter". On 15 July 1867 at the close of the war he moved moved from Montgomery, Ala. to Morris County, Texas and the wagon journey took 7 days and arriving at the home of Teresa's sister, 4 miles from Jefferson, Marion County, Texas on a Saturday. Teresa's sister was Rebecca J. Hayden Williams (1825 – 1876) and was married to Dr. Williams' brother, Samuel L. Williams (1828-1881). By 1870 Dr. and Mrs. Williams were living in Upshur Co., Texas where Teresa died in 1873.
