Funeral services for Damon "Thad" Mancil will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 in the Occupy No. 1 Baptist Church in Pitkin with the Revs. Paul Johnson and James Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Occupy No. 1 Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. Mancil, 26 of Pitkin, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 in Jennings, La.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1978 in DeRidder and was a lifelong resident of Pitkin. He was a 1996 graduate of Plainview High School, and was currently employed by Billy's Bark Company of Forest Hill.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elbert Johnson, and paternal grandmother, Melba Mancil.

He is survived by his loving family, mother, Vickie Johnson Buxton; stepfather, Alex Buxton of Oakdale; father, Charles Mancil; stepmother, Joy Mancil of Pitkin; two brothers, Shannon Mancil and his wife Kristen Mancil of Oberlin and Matt Houston Mancil of Oakdale; maternal grandmother, Vera McCauley of Pitkin; paternal grandfather, Leo Mancil of Pitkin; one niece, Leah Mancil of Oakdale; and aunts and uncles, Paul and Corine Johnson of Tyler, Texas, Perry and Jennell Johnson of Leesville, Ruth and Melvin Bowie of Tioga, Don and Sissy Mancil of Pitkin, Bruce Mancil of Tioga, and Gwen and Kenneth Monett of New Iberia.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Shannon Mancil, Matt Houston Mancil, Travis Johnson, Terry Maricle, Jeremy Johnson, Damon Maricle, James Doyle and Michael Tarver.

Friends may call today at the church until time of service.
