Beulah Mae Scogin, 75, a native of Corpus Christi, died Wednesday, June 28, 1989 after a short illness. She was born June 30, 1913. She retired from the Credit Bureau of Greater Corpus Christi after 40 years of employment. She was active in South Bluff United Methodist Church and Dorcas Class, Del Mar College Senior Citizens Education Program, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Nueces County Historical Society. She was past president of AARP Chapter 1778 and was a life and charter member of Credit Women International. She was preceded in death by her father, John L. Scogin; her mother, Annie B. Johnson Scogin; and her sisters, Josephine Scogin and Allen Troutman. Survivors include her brother, John L. (Aurelia) Scogin of Corpus Christi; brother-in-law Dale Troutman of Robstown; nephew, P.M. ‘Mike' Troutman and his wife, Helen of Odem, Texas and their children, Michael, Philipp, and Jon L. Troutman; two nieces, Phyllis Hayes and her husband, Calvin of Refugio, Texas, and their children, Jim and Deanna; niece, Patty Scogin of Corpus Christi; and nephew, Bill Scogin and his wife, Patricia and their children, Robert, Sean, Thomas, and Wesley Scogin. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 1989 at South Bluff United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Deviney officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the South Bluff United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
