Born in Barren County, he was a son of the late Amos and Mamie Chism. He was retired from Lane and Hargett, a World War I Army veteran in the 44th Infantry and participated in European Theater Operations. He was in the Carpenters Union over 50 years and was a certified locksmith. He was a member of the Devotion Lodge 160 F&AM and the D.A.V.
Survivors other than his wife, are a twin brother, Eulan (Trudy) Chism of Virginia; a niece, Donna; grand nieces, Mary L. and Leanne; a brother-in-law, Clifton Rudolph (Bonnie) Jackson of San Antonio, Texas; two nephews, Barry (Kim) Jackson of Glasgow, and Charles Mutten, of Glasgow; nieces Brenda Mutten Leftwich of Glasgow and Sherry Jackson Longhorn of Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, June Carolyn Chism. Funeral sesrvices will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main Street, Lexington. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
