Lawrence L. Wallen, Sr., age 77, resident of Moore Haven, Florida and former Shelby resident passed away on Friday, June 29, 2007 in Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida following a long illness. He was born on March 29, 1930 in Hancock County, Ohio to the late Isaac L. and Lovie Mae (Mapes) Wallen. Mr. Wallen had attended Shiloh High School and was employed with the New York Central Railroad as a telegrapher and later a truck driver for several companies.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn R. (Owens) Wallen; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Terry Wallen of Jersey Shore, PA; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Larilyn and Chuck Arndt of Jersey Shore, PA; Robyn McHenry of Jersey Shore, PA; Valerie Berencsi of New Port Richey, FL; Vickie and John Echelberry of Shelby; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Tammy Frazee of Mansfield; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Arnold Renz of Shelby.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Wallen; and a brother, Dwight E. Wallen.

Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 1:30 PM with Reverend John Wanamaker officiating. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth,Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. From www.secorfuneralhome.com
