From page 1 of the August 3, 1905 Skidmore, Missouri New Era:
"Obituary
Adaline M. Case was born in Franklin county, New York, September 16, 1824, and married to Milo F. Kellogg, Feb. 22 1849 in Pittsfield, Ohio. To them were born three children, Eliza, who died in infancy, Hattie C., who died in middle age at Falls City, Nebraska, and James Frederick, who alone remains to mourn her loss.

In 1871 the family moved from Oberlin, Ohio, to Salem, Nebraska, at that time a frontier town. In 1877 the family moved to Oregon, Mo. for the purpose of educating their children. Mrs. Kellogg was for years a teacher in the public schools. In 1899 Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg moved from Nebraska to Skidmore, Mo., to be near their only son; J. F. Kellogg. In 1900 the husband and father passed to the great unknown. The four short years that intervened between his death and hers have been years of peace and tranquility. An oft repeated remark of hers was, "I have not a care, I want for nothing, I am content." In early life she joined the Free Will Baptist Church. Her life has been a sermon, an offering to her God. She spoke ill and thought ill of none. Her faith in humanity was exceeded only by her faith in her Creator. Her unselfish life, her happy, hopeful disposition made her friends where ever she went.

Among her last words were these, 'The time is short. It is better so. I am ready, yes, all ready.'"
