Ralph Aaron Bates was born in Madill, Oklahoma in January of 1919. His parents were Joseph Nevels Bates(Tennessee)and Nellie Gill Bates (Oklahoma). He had 6 brothers and 2 sisters: Reid, Frank, Waymon, Tempie, Mildred, J.N., J.W., and Harold. Ralph married Jean Fambro in 1941. He served in the Army in World War II. Ralph was a deacon in the Tulia Central Church of Christ and owned Bates Shoe Store for over 30 years. Ralph and Jean had three children: Ralph Jr., Tom, and Vicki. Ralph Jr. lives in Tulia, Texas; Tom lives in Rowlett, Texas; Vicki lives in Burnet, Texas. Ralph died of a heart attack in January of 1988 and was buried in Rose Hill cemetery in Tulia, Texas. Jean survived him but passed away in 2004.
Ralph was a wonderful Christian man who served his family, his country, his customers and his friends with great care and love. He is greatly missed.
