Charles was one of many that built the "High Level" bridge in Akron. Unfortunately, fell, broke his back and was forced to retire. He is the son of Samuel Brown and Sarah Scott. He was married to Mary Elizabeth "Brooks" Brown (June 15, 1910 - July 29, 1979). They were the parents of two children: Earl James Brown (1924 - 1974), who had no children, and a daughter who still lives and the mother of eight children.

Grandson Timothy Michael Farrell is buried on his feet.
