Roman A. Zins, 82, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 199, in Vencor Hospital, Folsom, Calif.
Roman Adam Zins was born Nov. 19, 1916, the son of Joseph and Mary (Weinhandl) Zins in Red Lake Falls, Minn. He married Virginia Buckmiller on April 3, 1946, in St. Paul. He married Clarissa Burtness Halvorson on July 20, 1968 in Clear Lake, S.D. The owned a farm in Mekinock, N.D. Clarissa Zins died Sept. 2, 1964. He married Nina Jean Gates Harlow on Feb. 16, 1996 in Grand Forks. He was a graduate of Doolin Technical College, majoring in refrigeration. He owned and operated Zins Heating & Refrigeration Service from March 1948 until retiring in 1994.
He is survived by a son, Ronald, Minneapolis; a daughter, Jackie (Scott) Johnson, Rocklin, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Francis, Long Prairie, Minn., and Benedict, Minneapolis; and sisters, Flora Hudson and Louise Foldesi, both of Greenbush, Laura Zins, St. Paul, and Rita Wagoner, Moorhead; and stepchildren, James, John, Jeri, Joseph, Jeffrey, Jeanne, Jackie and Joyce.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
