Marguerite Kahler, 95, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011.

She was born January 25, 1916 in Richland, KS the daughter of William H. and Ester (Land) Coultis.

She was a graduate of Berryton High School.

She worked as a clerk for the U.S. Air Force Base Exchange at Forbes Air Force Base for over 20 years.

Mrs. Kahler was a member of The Moose Lodge #555. Marguerite married Dayton J. Herschell on October 19, 1938 Leavenworth. He preceded her in death.

She married Leroy J. Kahler on October 25, 1975 in Topeka. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Lance Herschell of Topeka and DeOn (Jim) Cahill of Indianapolis, IN; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Shelby Cahill; and a brother, Melvin Coultis.

She was preceded in death by a son Larrie Herschell and her three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Topeka, KS 66605. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o Denise Hagerty, 7514 Samuel Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46259.
