David Curtis Harmon, 93, died from congestive heart failure Saturday, April 25, 1998, at the Earlham Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Pastor Mike Evans officiating. Burial was at Overton Cemetery near Knoxville, Iowa.

David Harmon was born Jan. 26, 1905, near Romeo, Tenn., to Curtis David and Martha (Everhart) Harmon. He moved to Iowa as a teenager. On Sept. 6, 1925, he married Maria Overton. He married Ethel Welch in 1965, following Maria's death in 1964. David was employed as a turret lathe operator for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, retiring in 1968. In 1985, he and Ethel moved to Earlham. Ethel died in November 1997.

He is survived by two sons, Merle (wife Maxine) of Minneapolis, Minn., and David (wife Margaret of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Norma Conrad (husband Eugene) of Earlham and Sharleen Fricke (husband Bob) of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
