JOHN R. COLLARD OF SPEARMAN DIES SATURDAY

John R. COLLARD, 73 years of age, died Saturday morning in Hansford County Hospital, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Spearman Friday. Funeral services were held Monday at the First Methodist church, with Rev. R. S. Watkins officiating.

Mr. COLLARD was widely known in Ochiltree county as well as over the Plains country. He came to Hansford county from Coryell county in 1907 and opened a real estate office at Old Hansford, where he lived until 1919 when he moved to Spearman. He and the late Mel WRIGHT organized the First State Bank at Hansford which they operated until 1914.

He later bought stock in the First State Bank of Spearman, and was president at the time of his death. He was engaged in the real estate business, and acquired extensive farm and ranch holdings. He was one of the civic leaders of this section of the country.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John R. COLLARD, Jr., Spearman, and George COLLARD, San Antonio; and a daughter, Mrs. W. D. ROBB, Jr., also of San Antonio.

Interment was in the Hansford cemetery.
