Euclide Charles Latendresse was born in Canada on 18 October 1861. He was the son of Marie Brisson and Charles Latendresse. It is said that the original name was Chebroux and that when the family fled from France during the Revolution, they changed their name to Latendresse. The name "Latendresse" means "tenderness."

Euclide was raised on a farm north of Montreal in Joliette, Quebec, Canada. He had one brother, Louis, and four sisters.

When he came to the United States, Euclide settled first in Duluth, Minnesota, then in the village of Hugo, Minnesota where he met Virginia Courteau, who was born on 8 November 1869. They were married in Centerville, Minnesota on 30 October 1886.

Euclide was elected the Mayor of Hugo, Minnesota, and served 1911-1913.

Euclide and Virginia had ten children: Marie, died at birth; Frank married Frances Kellogg and moved to Indiana; Mary married Henry Crever and later Adelore Theroux and lived and died in Hugo, Minnesota; Edward lived to be ten years old; James married Vina Miranda and moved to Indiana; Delia married Lee Sadler and moved to Danville, Indiana, where she was buried; Albert died at the age of 15; George and his wife, Marie Morisette, moved to Indiana and then to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Louise married Lawrence Muller and lived in Hugo; Louis married Hazel Snow and later moved to California.

Euclide died on 13 October 1945. His funeral was held at St. John's Baptist Catholic Church, and he was buried in the church's cemetery.
