Bill met Kay Connert in Indianapolis and they were married on July 11, 1948. They have three daughters. In 1955, Bill and his family moved to Fullerton, Calif., where he began as a roofing salesman. In 1959, he moved his family to Escondido to manage a local roofing company. In 1967, Bill established Bavender Roofing.
He retired in 1984, enjoyed travel with his wife Kay, and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed his boat; fishing and travels in his motor home. He was an active member of the Escondido Elks #1687.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kay; daughters, Pat Bavender, Becky Wells, and Donna Hogue (Kevin); grandson, Michael Wells; and granddaughter, Kelley Squires (Harlan). He was predeceased by his grandson, Casey Hogue. Bill will always be remembered for the laughs, good times and his great love for his country, family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm, Sunday, June 13, at Grace Lutheran Church, 643 West 13th Avenue, Escondido, Calif. 92025. Interment will follow on June 15 at Ft. Rosecrans.
