"Cal" McLaughlin was one of 9 McLaughlin children from Marion County, Illinois to marry and have children -- and he is my great-great grandpa, and helped raise my own grandfather. He married Mora Bennett in 1899. Cal was a kind and gentle man, by all accounts in our family. He was a "favorite uncle" type. In life, he was a grocer, a farmer and later joined with his wife to run an orphanage in Bloomington, Illinois.
