Our special mother, Mary Robbins Griffin, 96, passed away on November 25, 1993 in Draper, Utah.
Born December 3, 1896 to Aaron Roger Robbins and Elizabeth Swenson in Provo, Utah. She married Ernest D. Griffin in the Salt Lake Temple on October 4, 1917. She resided in Escalante, Utah until moving to Salt Lake City in 1951.She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions of responsibility in all church organizations. After moving to Salt Lake City, she was an active temple worker and was employed by the Paris Company.
A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by three sons and two daughters, Waldon E. Griffin and wife Ella of Murray, Utah; Harold R. Griffin and wife Ina Rene of St. George, Utah; Gerald D. Griffin of Logan, Utah; Evelyn G. Heaps and husband Alma A. Heaps, Joan G. Murdock and husband Ted C. Murdock, all of Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1982 by her celestial companion.
Services will be held at the Union 12th Ward Chapel, 7784 South 2000 East (Highland Drive), at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and on Tuesday morning one hour prior to services. Burial, Mountain View Memorial Estates under the direction of Cottonwood Mortuary.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to the staff at Lanore's Nursing Home for the special care given our mother while at Lanore's.
