Doris was born in New York City, NY where she met her late husband Rabbi Meyer Abramowitz who was a Cantor in Forest Hills, NY. They later moved to Sharon, PA and Resada, California, then to Springfield where they made their home for 26 years. Doris was a graduate of Hunter College and educated as a teacher. She was active in many civic and Jewish organizations and worked hard to champion the rights of the oppressed, including the desegregation of Springfield Public Schools. She, with her husband, served Temple B'rith Sholom.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 25, at 11AM with memorial service to follow at 12 Noon at Temple B'rith Sholom, officiated by Rabbi Michael Datz and Rabbi Barry Marks. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Temple B'rith Sholom. Arrangements by Star of David, N. Lauderdale FL.
