Goldie Sperry, 87, of West Salem died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with Bro. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery in West Salem. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sperry was born Aug. 2, 1911, in Mt. Erie, the daughter of Ira M. and Emma (Crow) Copley. She married Kenneth "Buck" Sperry Oct. 10, 1931, in West Salem at his parents' home. He preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1969.

She and her husband operated Dutton's Store in West Salem for many years. She was precinct committee woman for the Republican Party for several years. She was a member of First Christian Church in West Salem.

She is survived by two brothers, Wib Copley of Olney, and Doyle Copley, of Grayville; and two sisters, Betty Murray, of Albion, and Flossie Dowty, of Mt. Carmel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Ira Copley Jr., and Loy "Shorty" Copley, and three sisters, Bessie Cowling, Mary Root and Marie Mason.
