Sara E. Detwiler
WESTOVER — Sara E. Detwiler, 102, of Westover died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne. She was born Dec. 10, 1908, in Lititz, Pa., to the late David and Amelia (Moseman) Kurtz.
Sara was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had been an active member of Holly Grove Mennonite Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mildred Good of Westover and Carolyn Stjernholm (Melvin) of Breckenridge, Colo.; one son, Elbert Detwiler (Anna Mae) of Harrisonburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Kenny Good and Keith Good of Westover, Kendra Good Rittenhouse of Souderton, Pa., Greg Detwiler of Westover, Doug Detwiler of Berne, Ind., Sherri Stjernholm Toews of Superior, Colo., Kimberly Stjernholm Kauffman of Westminster, Colo., and Rick Stjernholm of Canton, Ohio; 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband, E. Vernon Detwiler; one infant daughter, Darlene; two sisters, Amelia Kurtz Detwiler and Lydia Kurtz; two brothers, James Kurtz and John Kurtz; three half brothers, Harvey, Elmer and David Landis and one son-in-law, Nolan Good.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Holly Grove Mennonite Church, 7333 Mennonite Church Road, Westover. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at Holly Grove Mennonite Church.
