Flossie was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, a member of Phi Mu Alpha honorary music fraternity, a 50-year member of Phi Beta Phi sorority and played lively piano in the Varsity Club Orchestra. She also attended graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin where she studied organ.
