Andrew Dana Kitchings went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2011 in Temple. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Shannon Soard officiating.

Andrew was born on May 14, 1986 at Scott & White Hospital here in Temple. He also attended schools here and received his GED in 2004. He then went to Temple College and attended college classes in Sacramento, CA. In 2005, Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Benning, GA. After being discharged from the Army, Andrew moved to Citrus Heights, California where he then later married the love of his life Darya Tkachenko. They both moved back to Temple in 2008. In January of 2009 Andrew became a tech in the emergency room at Scott & White. He then left Scott & White in July of 2011. He was researching educational opportunities in the medical field. As life would have it he and Darya split in May of 2011, this with other life complications caused him much pain and suffering.

Andrew will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He had a powerful charisma and could sell you on anything he believed in. He enjoyed playing his guitar and making music. His sister believes he should have been a poet. He blessed many people with his presence, acceptance, love and understanding. Many of his friends will remember him as the class clown and his ability to make people laugh in dark times. At the age of 10 he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by Pastor Gary DeSalvo from Temple Bible Church. He had a strong faith in the Lord and even talked about becoming a clergy. In the end he wanted to be at peace and be with the Lord our Father. His love and passion for his friends and family shall be terribly missed by us all.

Survivors include his parents, Leilani Kitchings and Dr. Olen Eugene Kitchings and Adrian Gutierrez all of Temple; Andrews wife, Darya Kitchings of Citrus Heights, CA; two brothers, Jeffrey Kitchings of Temple and John Kitchings of Nashville, TN; three sisters, Gena Smith of Temple, Kristi Behnk of San Antonio and Mary Lin Kitchings of Denton; grandparents, Sonny and Stella Skinnner of La Habra, CA; Lupe Gutierrez of Austin; several aunts, uncles, cousins and one niece and six nephews.

There will be a family visitation at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home on Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m.
