Pauline died of lung cancer.

Pauline (the name she went by) had only one child, a daughter, she named Kathryn Delores, who was born out of wedlock with an unnamed father in Memphis, Tennessee. Her adoption was handled by the infamous Georgia Tann owner of the Tennessee Children's Home Society in Memphis where she was flown to her adoring adoptive parents in Los Angeles, California. Her adoptive name is Karen Keith Baker, memorial #191771268.

The story goes that Pauline (nicknamed "Cookie" by her parents) fell in love with a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps whose name remains unknown. They were to be married, but he went to war and never returned, leaving Pauline unwed and pregnant with her daughter. Pauline chose to give her daughter up for adoption and never had any other children. When she was dying, she confided in her sister that "she wished she had kept her daughter." Information passed from her sister, Margaret, to her Sister, Emily "Connie."

According to information from her sister, Pauline married twice, first to a Mr. Massey and second to Mr. Morris Preston Robinette. Pauline and four of her sisters pretty much grew up in St. Peter's Orphanage, McLean and Poplar, Memphis, Tennessee. None of the five placed in the orphanage were adopted. The sixth daughter, Emily Nell (born in 1931), was adopted at five weeks old by a couple in Memphis. Emily was also handled by Georgia Tann. Pauline's father lost his bakery business during the depression and they had to put the girls in the orphanage. Their parents (Seburne Eugene & Margaret Siskie Herring) later divorced. Information from Carolyn Whitaker.

"I may be gone, no longer living on this earth; but I will live on - in the memories of my family and friends. There will always be a part of me living in my husband, my children, my grandchildren, and those who knew me, on and on into eternity. I will truly live on because you remember me!"
