Mrs. Bessie Thompson, 53, died at 3:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Jan 21, 1937, at her home, two and one half miles west of Englevale, after a lingering illness. The cause of death was not learned. She was the wife of John Thompson. Mrs. Thompson was born May 25, 1883 near Englevale and had spent all her life in Crawford county. She belonged to the Church of God at Englevale. Surviving relatives include the widower; one daughter, Miss Fern Thompson of the home; three sisters: Mrs. Lillie Longshore and Mrs. Viola Hill of Girard; and Mrs. Vietta Herlocker of Farlington, Rural Route 1; and five brothers: Alfred & Cecil Engle of Englevale; James Engle of Arcadia, Route 2; William Engle of Fort Scott, Route 4; and Harry Engle of Pompey's Pillar, Montana. Last rites were held at 1 o'clock pm Sunday in the Church of God. Rev. W. E. Babb of Girard officiated. Internment was in Englevale cemetery. The funeral procession left the home at 12:15 pm.
