Mrs. John Born Dies Within a Year of Time Granddaughter Meets Death in Accident
Death, for the second time within a period of a year, entered the John Born home at 1634 S. Tenth street at noon today when Mrs. Born died after a lingering illness. Her granddaughter, Marion Born of Newton, met death last April 20 when struck down by a truck on Highway 42.
Born in the township of Newton on March 7, 1868, Mrs. Born spent practically all of her life in the township, coming to Manitowoc with her husband nine years ago. She was educated in the common schools of the town and on June 28, 1890 was married to John Born. The couple took up their residence on a farm which is now operated by two of their sons.
Surviving Family
Besides her husband, Mrs. Born, nee Augusta Reinhardt, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reinhardt, pioneer residents of the town of Newton, is survived by three sons, Reinhold and Walter at Newton, and Edgar of this city; one daughter, Miss Frieda at home; two brothers, Emil Reinhardt, Brillion, and Fred Reinhardt, Two Rivers; and four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Born and Mrs. Ernest Hoeffner, this city, and Mrs. William Damm and Mrs. William Reimer of Collins and three grandchildren. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran church.
Funeral services will be held from the home at 1634 S. Tenth street at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock from the First German Evangelical Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. L.H. Koeninger officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen cemetery.
