LEVERING - Two area men were killed early Sunday morning on US-31 two miles south of here when the car they were riding in went out of control, rolled over and traveled 600 feet before coming to a stop.

Pronounced dead at the scene were JIM M. ALLAIRE, 19, of Cheboygan, the driver, and GEORGE A. ABBS, 22, of Mackinaw City.

According to the Emmet County Sheriff's Department, the mishap occurred at about 1:38 a.m when Allaire's 1968 full-size Ford went out of control at a high rate of speed. Deputies said the auto stayed within 15 feet of the road as it skidded and rolled 600 feet.

Allaire had been ticketed about an hour earlier by Petoskey City Police for careless driving. He was also stopped in Alanson where he was given an excessive speed warning, deputies said.

Service for ABBS will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Mackinaw City Bible Church. Rev. Lyle Hoover will officiate and interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Mackinaw City.

The body is at the Nordman Funeral Home in Cheboygan where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. this evening.

He was born Aug. 15, 1952, in Ypsilanti and graduated from Pellston High School in 1970.

On June 30, 1975, he married ROBIN WALTERS in Cheboygan and the couple resided in Mackinaw City. He was employed at Shepplers Marine, in Mackinaw City.

FRED (MARY) SIKKENS and MRS. WILLIS (SANDY) HUGHES, of Carp Lake; MRS. MELVIN (PATRICIA) PLOTKOSKI, of Detroit, MRS. JERRY (JUDY) BROBB, of Dearborn and MRS. DOUGLAS (SUSIE) GRACE, of Tampa, Fla.

Services for Allaire will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church, in Cheboygan. Rev. C. L. Thalacher will officiate and interment will be in Hebron's Twp. Cemetery, Cheboygan county.

He was born September 2, 1955 in Wyandotte and came to Cheboygan as a child with his parents. He graduated from Mackinaw City High School in 1973.
