Arthur L. Johnson, age 71, died unexpectedly at St. Mary's hospital on Tuesday, July 30, 1996. He was born on May 31, 1925 in the Town of Vermont in Dane County and was the son of George and Anna (Olson) Johnson. He married Dorothy Simonson on February 3, 1945 in Dubuque, IA. He worked at the Dane County Highway Department for 22 years, retiring in 1984. Survivors include his wile; two sons, Kenneth (Dixie) of Mazomanie and David (Lisa) of Sun Prairie; a granddaughter, Samantha; a sister, Helen McVay of Richland, MO; a brother, Clarence (Adeline) of Edgerton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oscar and Melvin; and two sisters, Mabel Starks and Grace Halverson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 1996 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor St., with Pastor Elton Stroh officiating. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Garden Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 1996 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. WSJ 8/1/1996
