L. S. Bishop received word Saturday
of the death of his mother Mrs.
Emma R. Bishop which occurred in a
private hospital in Los Angeles, Cal.,
at the age of 79. She has made her
home in California for several years
past. Cause of her death was due to
her advanced age. Mrs. Bishop came
to Sauk Centre in 1866 with her husband,
locating on a farm near Birch
Lake where they resided till 1873
when they moved to Sauk Centre and
purchased S. Pendergast's store which
they conducted till the death of Mr.
Bishop in 1879. Following the death
of her husband Mrs. Bishop assisted
by her sons conducted the business
till she went west about 15 years ago.
The deceased erected the building now
occupied by the Odd Fellows. She was
a member of the Methodist church
and was always active in the societies
and was loved by all who knew
her. Two sons, L. S. Bishop of this
city and Howard Bishop of Westport,
and one daughter, Mrs. Della Mullen
of Los Angeles, Cal., survive her, In-
terment was made at Log Angeles, Cal.
