From the Stevens Point Daily Journal, Thursday, February 4, 1960:

Mrs. Etta Myrtle Phaneuf, 78, who lived near Lake Emily in the Town of Amherst, died Tuesday night at 8 o'clock at the Riverside Rest Home, Waupaca.

She had been ill for several months.

Her funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Jungers Funeral Home, Amherst, with the Rev. Ardys Van Stavern of the Amherst Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring in Forest Cemetery, Stevens Point.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of the services.

Mrs. Phaneuf was born in Randolph, Kan., on Nov. 21, 1881, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chapman. Later, she lived in Madison and Stevens Point before moving to the Town of Amherst 12 years ago.

Her marriage to Frank Phaneuf, who preceded her in death, took place Sept. 21, 1926.

A son, Duane Phaneuf, was killed in World War II.

Mrs. Phaneuf is survived by a nephew, Harold Chapman of Birnamwood, and seven other nieces and nephews.
