Drury Field was born in Virginia to his Virginia born parents Andrew Field and Frances "Frankie" Holland Field. His father Andrew 1775-1853 died in Tennessee. His mother Frances 1781-1854 died in Texas. Drury Holland Field was named for his grandfathe,the father of Frances, Drury Holland 1754-1826. His grandmother was Sarah "Sally" Turner Holland 1765-1851.

Drury married Caroline Frances Perry in Sevierville, TN 1837. To their union was born: Mary Frances 1839-1893 wife of Isaac Jones, Sarah C. 1840-1858, Andrew Perry 1841 (infant death), Drury Holland Field Jr 1844-1881, Florence 1846-1868, James M. 1847 (infant death), Elizabeth G. 1849-?, Eudara 1854-? and Mattie Lee born 1854-?.

1850 US Census (in what was then Grimes Cty/known today as northeastern Waller Cty) shows D.H Sr age 42 with his wife Caroline age 32 and their four children Mary Frances age 11, Sarah age 9, Drury Jr age 6 and Florence age 4. D.H. Sr is shown to be a farmer.

Drury Holland operated a general store in the community now named in his honor, Fields Store TX. He was a generous hardworking and industrious man. He, Caroline and their descendants have changed the face and fiber of Waller County TX for the better.
