Ila Nifong Leonard April 29, 1924 ~ Aug. 27, 2011 Mrs. Ila Nifong Leonard, 87, of Arcadia died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Arcadia. She was born April 29, 1924 in Arcadia, the daughter of the late, Jessee Lee and Mary Williams Nifong. Mrs. Leonard was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Clayton Leonard; her grandson, Brian Davis Ellis; her brother, Ira Nifong; her sister, Willie Disher; and her son-in-law, Rodney Brian Ellis. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Kaye Ellis of Arcadia; one son, Danny C. Leonard and wife, Dottie of Long Beach; three grandchildren, Amy Johnson and husband, Marvin, Todd Leonard and David Leonard; two great grandchildren, Gracie and Clayton Johnson and a sister-in-law, Kat Lawson and husband, Glad. A Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Hope United Methodist Church, 10253 Hampton Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
