Roxy "J.J." Glen Johnson, 72, passed away in Pahrump, Nev., on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, of natural causes.

Viewing will be on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the H.K. Holland Memorial Chapel. A service will be held on Friday, Oct 8 at 10 a.m. at the H.K. Holland Memorial Chapel, 216 S. Norma St.

J.J., a long-long-time Ridgecrest resident, was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Gordon and Maxine Johnson on July 7, 1938. In 1957, he graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Ill. After graduation, J.J. joined the United States Navy, where he served until retiring in May of 1977.

J.J. was a beloved member of the Ridgecrest community, where he was known as a generous man whom one could turn to in a time of need. J.J. loved sports, and on most Sundays he could be found in his living room in front of the TV, cheering on the Boston Celtics, the San Francisco 49ers, and his favorite all-time NASCAR driver, number 48, Jimmy "J.J." Johnson. In Ridgecrest, J.J. was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the VFW. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many close friends.

J.J. is survived by his sons, Randy Gordon Johnson and Raymond Glen Johnson; daughter-in-law, Alena Johnson; brother, Gary Johnson; sister-in-law, Lise Jaffe; granddaughters, Valerie Lynn Johnson, Melody Nicole Johnson, and Isabela Francine Johnson; great-granddaughter, Lacey Johnson; former daughter-in-law, Janice Johnson; former wives, Lynn Sutton and Nancy King and their families, Allan King, Jerri King, Michael King, Don King, and Mike and Cori Prior and their daughters, Olivia and Catie. J.J. was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen F. Johnson and his granddaughter, Rachel Johnson.
