Genevieve Arthurs passed away at her home with family in attendance on November 10,2007. She is a granddaughter of a Civil War veteran, third generation Californian, and 55 year resident of Lincoln, Calif.
Genevieve Walker Davis was born September 10,1915, in Woodland, Calif. to Walker Jefferson Davis and Blanche Mary (Hastings) Davis. She was the fifth of nine children.
She is preceded in death by her siblings; husbands, Delvin R. Kerns and Marvin P. Arthurs; sons David L. Kerns and Troy L. Kerns; grandchildren, Manuel Carl Kerns and Pamela G. Kerns. She is survived by children, Dorothy Jean Blanche Seriva, Ronald Kerns, Floyd Kerns, Arlene Schneidereit; 25 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; 19 gr.gr.grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Genevieve and Delvin Kerns were farmers in the Mount Pleasant area of Lincoln. After retiring from McClellan AFB, she taught people to read through Placer Adult Literacy Service, and was one of the original library volunteers that helped to keep the Lincoln Carnegie Library open. The memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Funeral Home, 406 H Street, Lincoln, Calif. A reception will follow.
