A resident and farmer of Hunterdon County all his life, Mr. Allen was born in Readington Township, May 10, 1864. He farmed for many years in the Bartles Corner vicinity, where he built a new bungalow at the time of his retirement.
He died of a heart attack Sunday, May 9, 1942, at his home on Route 30, north of Flemington. Services were held at the Holcombe Funeral Home, Flemington, Tuesday afternoon. Conducting the funeral was the Rev. R. Wesley Smith of Midvale, former pastor of the Quakertown Methodist Church. Mr. Allen was a member of this church. Burial was in Mt. Peace Cemetery at Allerton.
