ANNA - Billy E. Chapman, 71, died at 9:50 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Anna, the son of Lowell and Mamie Evans Chapman.
He married Sharon Highland on Dec. 25, 1955.
He is a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1957. He is a life member of Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Bill was an employee of the city of Anna, serving as sexton of the city cemetery for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of Anna; one son, Kenny Chapman and wife, Carla, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Kris Treat and husband, Steven, of Anna; six grandchildren, Jessica Matlock and husband, Troy, Brian Chapman and wife, Kim, Brystal Poole and husband, Jeremy, and Kristopher, Taylor and McKayla Treat; two great-grandchildren, Remington Poole and Hunter Chapman; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy; and a grandson, Christopher Shawn.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Scott Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at the funeral home.
