WILLIAMSBURG, VA., June 25.-(Special)- Mr. Thomas Newman, Sr., one of the best-known and most prominent citizens of York cunty, died this afternoon at 5 o'clock at his home near Magruder. Mr. Newman was 59 years of age, and was a brave Confederate soldier. He was also a prominent Mason. For two terms he was treasurer of York county, declining re-election. He was a most excellent citizen, andhis county will miss him only a little less than will his family. He was twice married and leaves a widow and five children.
The funeral will take place Friday, and the interment will be at Yorktown, near old Grace church.
