Frank A. Davis, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ward Hayes and Rev. Eric Von Atzigen officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories with the United States Navy Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Frank was born October 10, 1925 in Fisher County to A.E. (Bailey) Davis and Dorothy (Armstrong) Davis. He graduated from Sweetwater High School mid-term 1943 and was sworn into the U.S. Navy the next day in Lubbock, Texas. He then was discharged from the San Diego Naval hospital in May of 1946 and went on to Tarleton Jr. College where he met and married Marilyn June Golightly March 28, 1947.

He continued his education at Texas A & M University, graduating in January, 1950. He received his MS degree from Tarleton State University in 1974. He worked for many years at SISD as vocational Ag teacher and counselor, then as chief probation officer for Nolan, Mitchell and Fisher counties. While at SISD, he was a driving force in the establishment of the Hobbs Alternative School. He was also a rancher. Frank was a long time member, Sunday School teacher and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Davis of Sweetwater, Tx; two sons, John Franklin Davis and wife Cynthia of Sweetwater, Texas; and Stephen Allen Davis and wife Kathleen of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren, Brooks Seigle Davis, Shawn Dixon Davis and wife Danelle; Kassi Marie Davis, and Stephen Neal Davis and fiance Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Seth Dixon Davis and Daniel John Davis; sister, Evelyn Dickenson of Lakewood, Colorado; niece, Pam Benigno and husband Bruce and Kathy Barber and husband Jim and dear friends, Betty and Bobby Alderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A.E. (Bailey) and Dorothy Davis; and special aunt, Pauline Davis (on August 25, 2011).

Pallbearers will be Stephen Neal Davis, Shawn Dixon Davis, Brooks Seigle Davis, David Mayfield, Rex Mayfield and Eddie Leonard.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Rister, Louis Brooks, Jr., Larry Casto, Bobby Alderson, Doug Alexander, Vershel Smith, Eddy Mayfield, Jackie Rowan and Len Boden.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6-8 P.M..

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1503 Crescent, Sweetwater, Texas 79556 or Integra Care Hospice, 1822 26th Street, Snyder, Texas 79549.
