William Jackson Lewis, 79, of Front Royal passed away August 26, 2011 at Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester, Virginia.

He was born August 21, 1932 in Manassas, Virginia, son of James and Martha Payne Lewis. On January 17, 1958, he married Doris Garrison.

Mr. Lewis served three years in the United States Army, when honorably discharged, he was a sergeant. He also worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 26 for 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Payne Lewis; also, his brother, James "Jimmy" Lewis; and a sister, Mae Lewis Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Lewis; his daughter, Sandra Miller and husband Mike; three grandchildren, grandson, William Larkin, granddaughter, Heather Overstreet, granddaughter, Nicole Clatterbuck and husband David; seven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Benny Lewis and wife Elvie, Clarence Lewis and wife Shirley, Stewart Lewis and wife Linda; and a sister, Margaret Mason.

The family will receive friends Wednesday August 31, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Pastor Clifton Owens.

Interment will follow in Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601 in memory of William J. Lewis.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, under the direction of Michael Ward.
