Age 85, formerly of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009. She was daughter of the late Francis C. & Grace Kelly Burkhardt; sister of Francis J. (Beverly) Burkhardt, Mary (Lester) Conner, Irmina Thompson, Eugene (Dolores) Burkhardt, Raymond (Renee) Burkhardt, and the late Richard & Regis Burkhardt; also survived by sisters-in-law Colleen Burkhardt and Virginia Burkhardt, and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1974, Louise retired from the U.S. Air Force, after serving as Flight Nurse, specializing in the transportation of & caring for wounded service personnel for nearly 24 years. Louise graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing and returned later to earn her Master's Degree in Nursing. She was a member of the Forest Hills Garden Club and the Society of Air Force Nurses. Friends received at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATION CENTER OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (1 block East of Mosside Blvd.-Rte. 48) (A Golden Rule Member). Visitation Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at North American Martyrs Church on Sat. Sept. 12th, 10 a.m. Interment Braddock Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Louise requested contributions be made to your favorite charity.
