BEDDINGFIELD, Betsy (nee: Allison), age 85, passed away at the home of her son, Ben in Philomath surrounded by family on August 19, 2011. She was born on May 10, 1926 in Brevard, North Carolina to Samuel Allison and Sally Zachary Allison. Betsy grew-up in Brevard and later married the love of her life, Roy Beddingfield on March 6, 1947. They had two children, Judy and Ben.

In 1951 Betsy and Roy pulled up stakes and moved to Harlan, Oregon along with Roy's six siblings and his parents. This was quite a shock for a city girl! In 1958 Betsy and Roy moved to Philomath where they remained until Roy passed away. Betsy worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 17 years and after a short retirement was asked to return and work at the Corvallis Clinic where she stayed for another 10 years. Betsy was admired and respected for her compassion and work ethic. She took great pride in knowing her patients by their first names and often remembered them when she ran into them around town. Betsy enjoyed time spent with her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and they also loved her. She and Roy loved their trips to Reno and had a system for winning money there. Betsy often said that she was happy when tending the burn pile at their Philomath property and painting or wallpapering the house. She enjoyed hours spent on the telephone visiting with family or good friends. Betsy was very happy over the past three months as she had the opportunity to say her goodbyes to family and friends.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, her darling Roy in 1993, her brothers Robert and Hugh and one grandchild, Cheri. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Todd and her husband Keith; son Ben and his wife Diane; grandchildren: Christy, Chelle, Jeremy, Jamie and Jonathon; great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Taylor and Rocco.

Betsy will always be remembered for her loving heart and for taking care of other people. She was very proud of her southern heritage and still spoke with a southern accent, even after living in Oregon for 60 years.

Funeral services are Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at McHenry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Ben and Diane Beddingfield are hosting a reception at their home in Philomath following the service, all are invited.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Benton Hospice Service or the New Life Fellowship in care of McHenry Funeral Home 206 NW 5th St., Corvallis, OR 97330.
