Mrs. Era Louise Phillips Jones, age 85, of Ariton, died Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2011, in Pickens County Medical Center in Carrollton, Alabama. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2011, from Ariton Baptist Church with the Reverend David Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in the Elam Baptist Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Mrs. Jones was born November 17, 1925, to the late Samuel Alford and Beulah Ketchum Phillips in Clio, Alabama. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband Horace Cifford Jones; a son Marcus Jones and her sister Audrey Wylleen Phillips Tyler.
Survivors include four daughters: Janice Sconyers, Havana, Florida; Glenda Jones, Prattville; Patricia Jones (T. R. Munn, Jr.), Ozark and Nancy Easterling, Ariton; three sons: David (Shirley) Jones, Carrollton; Therrell (Frances) Jones, Scottsboro and Michael Jones, Crystal River, Florida; daughter-in-law Kali Jones, Headland; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
