She was married to Chester Travers Hicok 30 May 1891. They moved to Coon Rapids where they made their home , with the exception of a few years spent in Tama City, Iowa, where Chester died in 1899. They had four children: Rufus Earl, Leah Pearl, Francis Harold and Enid Estelle. Minerva returned to Coon Rapids after Chester's death and then moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1926 . She was born to Jacob and Elizabeth M. "Betsy" Guilliams Hamilton in Ida County on May 27, 1872. In her later years, she was cared for until her death, by her daughter, Leah, who lived in Marine City, Michigan. She was one of a family of nine children, who have all passed away except for two sisters, Nelly Toovey of Dedham, Iowa and Myrtle Hilgenburg of Dawson. (Coon Rapids Enterprise, September 30, 1955.)
