Marshall Alexander C. Board "M.A.C. was a son of Alexander "Sandy" and Rebecca "Becca" (Stutler) Board of Reedy, West Virginia. His siblings were: Christopher, Nancy, Josiah, Lemuel, Col. P., and Salina. Half-siblings from his father's former wives were: Rebecca, Margaret, William and Thomas.

In 1887, M.A.C. married Ella M. Hardman, daughter of John S. and Sarah A. (Romie) Hardman. They had the following children: Romy, Claude, Rushia and Ruby.

M.A.C. served as Sealer of Weights and Measures, sheriff and justice of the peace in Calhoun County. They had a farm on Board Fork of Rowles Run near Cremo, Calhoun County in the 1920's. He had an office in Grantsville prior to his death.
