Shirley Ann Griffin Howell, 79, widow of Charles Boyd Howell, died on July 22, 2011 in her home. Born in Durham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Johnnie Renn Griffin. She worked in the food service industry as restaurant manager of the Brookwood Inn; and was a member of the High View Baptist Church in Roxboro. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debra "Debbie" Perry and her husband, George of Hiawassee, GA, sons, Rick Wheeler of Ft. Meyers Beach, FL, and Shawn Howell of Butner; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Dalton Barbour, of Oxford, and brothers and sister-in-law, Allen Renn Griffin of Raleigh, and Thomas Jefferson, Jr.and Beverly Griffin of Columbus, GA. Her granddaughter Shawna Howell also survives. Memorial services will be 2PM Sunday at High View Baptist Church with the Reverend Avery Dalton officiating. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the High View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 144 High View Church Rd., Roxboro, NC, 27574.
