William Henry Koetterhagen, 89, Elkhorn, died Aug. 8, 2005, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 6, 1915, in Waterford, to the late Theodore and Mary (Auterman) Koetterhagen. He married Arline Stark April 22, 1950, in Waterford. He farmed for many years in Waterford, and then worked as a lumber salesman for Wickes Lumber, Elkhorn, for more than 21 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elkhorn. He was a former Grand Knight and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Council 3464. He was an avid card player, especially sheepshead and euchre. He enjoyed woodworking and attended many craft fairs with his creations.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years; son, Jerome (Taili), Paddock Lake; daughters, Sue (Mike) Nesbitt, Genoa City, Cindy Koetterhagen, Elkhorn; grandson, Ben (Tory Chanthavixay) Koetterhagen, Waukesha; sister, Bernice (Bill) Devlin, Lac du Flambeau; brother, Cletus (Ione), Waterford. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Link and Helen Bicman; and infant brother and sister. Visitation is Friday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon, at Si. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Gary Nowicki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery, Waterford. Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Elkhorn, is handling arrangements. Memorials in Bill's name to VNA Hospice of Lake Geneva, are suggested.
