He moved to Munising when he was 20 years old and worked for the Munising Stave and Hoop Co. for several months until he came to Gladstone in Dec., 1896. He was employed with the Northwestern Cooperage and Lumber Co. for 10 years and then he became a cooper at the Soo Line docks. In Feb., 1911, he began work at the roundhouse, later becoming a boilermaker and acetylene welder. In Dec. 1934, he was transfered to Enderlin, North Dakota, where he was employed in the roundhouse until he was taken ill Jan. 5.

He married Carrie Duchaine of Gladstone, Mi on July 27, 1903. No children listed in obituary.
