Kathryn (as she was called) was the 5th child and daughter born to Mandeville Evans and Ida Lou Annie (Black) Edwards. She married Theodore (Ted) Harvey Becker on 5 June 1943 whom she met whe he was stationed at Birmingham Army Airfield AL with the US Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, they returned to Ted's home town of Belleville IL, residing there until his death on 25 December 1995. After her children were all in public school, she worked at the local YMCA and then for 18 years she worked at Scott AFB IL as an accountant and budget analyst until she retired. She loved music and the arts, and encouraged her children to develop their musical abilities by learning to play musical instruments. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir at St George's Episcopal Church, where she was a member, and was also the choir director for a few years. She was also very talented in creating various forms of beautiful handicrafts, including quilts, needlepoint, and wall plaques. She loved tending to her house plants and outside flowers, of which she was very proud. She and her husband frequently volunteered at the Todd Hall Retreat Center in Columbia IL as well as other church activities. In 1997 she moved to Haslet TX to live with her youngest daughter. She is survived by two sons and two daughters eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother. She was a role model to her children and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
