Conrad Walko of Luzerne died Saturday evening at home.
Born in Pringle, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Fuches) Walko. He graduated from Pringle High School class of 1951. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korea Conflict, serving in the Military Police. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and its Holy Name Society. He was a third degree of Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne.
Conrad was a thoughtful and devoted husband to his wife. Generous and supportive of his family, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. A dedicated man, he served God and his country with honor and dignity. He showed incredible strength and courage throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Nancy Karmilowicz; sons Conrad, of Orlando, Fla.; David, of Kennebec County, Maine; Christopher, of Spokane, Wash.; nine grandchildren; brother Robert, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; sisters Patricia Scovish of Bear Creek; Roseanne Balash of New Jersey; also nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Bennett Street Church, with the Very Rev. David Cappelloni, V.F., officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. [email protected].
