Thomas "Tom" McLain Montgomery, 70, of Parkersburg departed this life Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born July 19, 1932, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Harley and Martha I. Green Montgomery Roberts. Mr. Montgomery was a retired mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service with 29 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran with service during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church and was a former member of the Serepta Baptist. He was a member of the ARC and the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia "Pat" Yoho Montgomery of Parkersburg, whom he married April 15, 1968; two sons, Michael Harley Montgomery of Parkersburg and Joseph Thomas Montgomery and his wife, Gloria, of Bucharest, Romania; two brothers, John R. Montgomery and his wife, Carolyn Sue, of Parkersburg and David L. Montgomery and his wife, Diana, of Vienna; one sister, Edna Jane Marty of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard Ray Montgomery, who died in infancy, James Harley Montgomery and Robert Dale Montgomery; and one sister, Julia Goff.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Mark E. Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens where military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
