Richard H. Watson, 84, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2005, at LaPorte Hospital surrounded by his family.

Dick was born December 31, 1920 in Buchanan, Michigan, the son of Cress and Florence L. (Ryther) Watson. He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1939 and studied agriculture at Michigan State College. On October 10, 1943 he married Virginia Babcock in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dick was engaged in dairy farming and also ran Watson's Orchards in Rolling Prairie. He was employed as a bus driver and maintenance man for the New Prairie School System for 27 years. Dick enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was involved in community affairs and was a member of the Rolling Prairie Lions Club when he lived there. Dick was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church, Galien.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Rex Truhn of Galien; nephew, Richard G. Babcock of Grand Rapids; and William and Rhoda Herda of Riverside, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am (Michigan time) on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks with the Reverend John Kasper officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 – 9:00 pm (Michigan time) on Friday at the funeral home.
