Frank A.J. Rusch, 77, Wausau, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at his home.

Frank was born Aug. 30, 1934, in the town of Eau Pleine to the late Hilton and Genevieve (Atkins) Rusch. He was a sergeant in U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Frank married Maxine Kahre on June 4, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They celebrated 15 years together prior to Maxine's death. Frank was remarried on April 29, 1972, to Jean Woller and they went on to celebrate 36 years together prior to her death in 2008.

He worked for the Neenah Foundry for more than 33 years providing for his family.

Frank had a good and caring heart. He loved his family and was delighted when he was able to spend time with his grandchildren. In his free time, Frank enjoyed fishing and camping, especially on the Islands of the Willow Flowage with his grandchildren. Being a good native Wisconsin son, Frank was an avid fan of both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.

Frank is survived by his daughters, Connie (Wallace) Laffin, Cindy (Gerald) Baker and Debra (Ronald) Fencl; stepdaughter, Sue (Donald) Baker; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy (Arthur) Tautges, Irma Butzlaff, Florence Pagel, Walter (Ann) Rusch, Joyce Litke, David Rusch, Rosemary Schlief and Maryann (Larry) Buchkowski; and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Byanka; and his brother, Harvey.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev. Stephen Russell will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until the time of services.

Burial will follow the funeral service in Restlawn Memorial Park with military honors to be conferred by VFW Schmitt-Maneke-Donner Post No. 1638.
